to say thanks to the ANZACS

This week's Thankful Thursday post was really a no brainer when ANZAC Day fell on a Thursday.

I am so very thankful for Diggers past and present who serve in our Defence Forces so that I can live in a safe and wonderful country.

My father has been researching our family history over the last couple of years and last year I took him and my mother on a holiday down to Canberra and we spent a day at the Australian War Memorial... it was amazing and I highly recommend it!

Tomb of the unknown soldier

Dad pointing to some ancestors from both his father and mother - they were in the same battalion and would have had no idea that their descendents would one day marry...

Thank you ANZACS.....

Linking up with Leigh from Six by the Bay again for Thankful Thursday

Thankful Thursday

  1. I would love to go to the war memorial and museum, it looks amazing! Very thankful today, for our diggers past and present, who give more of themselves than so many others ever would. x Aroha

  2. The War Museum is definitely a "must see" when in Canberra xxx

  3. I've been to the war memorial - the one time I went to Canberra. It was very impressive and very moving. The view down to Parliament House is incredible too don't you think. Beautiful photo's you have in this post! Min xo

  4. I went to the war memorial years ago on a school trip, and was amazed by it.
My family is all fro England, and so I don't have any of this heritage, which is both a blessing and sad at the same time :(

  5. Haven't been to the war memorial yet but would love to go some day.

  6. I love that each year ANZAC day gets bigger. Its a memorial day that will never lose its purpose. xx
